Manuwai

We're proud to share our award-winning Manuwai project. Manufactured in close collaboration with an architecturally-trained client and their interior designer (Space Studio). With hospitality-inspired styling and a strong nod to alpine NZ architecture, the space is both grounded in context and rich in detail.

The cabinetry features American White Oak veneer—crown cut, brushed—stained to a deep grey tone after multiple custom sample iterations. Three unique face detailing treatments were developed: 5mm reeded top drawers, routed frame profiles, and 50mm thick feature end panels with proud 5mm solid oak beading. Each required bespoke tooling, matched back-cut grooving for stability, and labour-intensive finishing to achieve consistency and durability.

Ocean Blue travertine benchtops—honed, filled, and mitred to 50mm—anchor the design visually and offer robust performance. A full-height American Oak veneer custom door jamb frames the scullery’s cavity slider, visually uniting the two zones. Inside the scullery, a Quiet Glide ladder on a bronze rail enables upper storage access—functional and fun for the clients’ children.

Framed reeded glass doors feature prominently on the rear wall cabinetry, echoing the steel scullery entry slider as well as the main entry doors into the room. Achieving proportion and visual continuity, the timber rails were carefully sized to match the 40mm routed profiles below.

Bespoke cabinetry was also manufactured & fitted by Carlielle in the bar, wardrobes, ensuite vanities, powder-room, laundry, study, home theatre and mud-room.

Every element was considered, tested, and crafted to exacting standards, resulting in a kitchen that not only reflects the architectural pedigree of its owners but also elevates their everyday experience.
